All About Mal
Mal holds a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing that she earned at twenty one years old. An avid reader, Mal began writing stories when she was a small girl, and it became her passion. Having written her first novel at the tender age of 13, to date, Mal has seven novels under her belt, as well as three short stories, most of which can be found on her main site, Woven Leaves. At any given time Mal has several writing projects underway, including fan fiction. 2005 saw one of her most productive years ever, with the completion of 2 non fanfiction novels, and several short stories of fan fiction. Her website Woven Leaves, displays some of her work while other manuscripts are sent to agents. In 2005, Mal also launched her fanfiction website.
Some of the authors that have influenced Mal over the years include Nora Roberts, Anne Rice, Marion Zimmer Bradley, John Irving, JK Rowling, Donna Kauffman, Margaret Mitchell, Edgar Allan Poe, Herman Melville, Roald Dahl and Julie Campbell. (Mal admits to a lot of General Hospital watching as a youngster also influenced her.) More recent authors Mal enjoys include Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison, Charlaine Harris, Neil Gaiman, Julie Kenner, and Mindy McClasky.
Mal discovered Trixie when she was about 9, and fell in love promptly with Jim Frayne. Pleas for a horse didn't work, but she never outgrew her love for Trixie and friends. These days her favorite Bob-White man is Dan, but she can't leave out the others, so in typical Mal fashion, she enjoys them all. Adoration for the "Dukes of Hazzard" inspired the Dukin' It Out Universe, while her life-long love for the Old West also brought up the Shoot 'Em Up Universe. In 2007, Mal introduced two new Universes. Spooked, which is a crossover with the cult hit tv show, "Supernatural". Her fifth Universe is called Leftovers, which will host a variety of odds and ends that don't fit anywhere else. 2009 will showcase a brand new story in this Universe.
In her spare time, Mal enjoys reading, writing, cooking, gardening with roses, and tinkering with photos to make it look like she's standing with John Schneider (the original Bo Duke) and Hugh Jackman. Mal currently lives in Washington DC and is the proud mama of a 4 year old Husky, Iolie.
