Tern O'Brien earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing at the age of twenty-one but has been entertaining with her stories since she was but a wee child, growing up in Los Angeles. Citing General Hospital as her main inspiration for writing, O’Brien also admits to drawing on a passion for mythology, fairy tales and various people as influences for her creativity.

Having devoured hundreds of books as a youngster, O'Brien's favorite authors include Anne Rice, John Irving, JK Rowling, Juliet Marsellier, Laurell K. Hamilton and Gregory MacGuire. Though a devotee of fairy tales, O'Brien finds it difficult to give all of her stories a happy ending.

O'Brien currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
