Epilogue

Adrian kissed Laura gently as they finished their first dance as husband and wife, to the Nelsons “With This Kiss”. Turning to the crowd, Adrian kept one arm securely around her waist.

Radiant in an ivory off the shoulder silk gown, the neckline decorated with silk roses; Dessa's creation had come out beautifully. The soft golden lights twinkled off the peach crystals scattered over the silk. The crown of peach roses on her auburn hair completed her look and Laura couldn't stop smiling. The roses were from the bush she had planted last year, from the bush Adrian had given her that first week she had moved into the house. Her bouquet had matched it, and the color set off her russet hair, parts of it swept up, the rest cascading down her back. Dessa had outdone herself.

Adrian was gorgeous in his tails, she thought, his long hair down. Nearby stood Adam, also in a tux as best man, and Dessa, lovely in a similar dress of green lace. The silk dress swept the floor, off the shoulder and covered in pale green lace. Shots of gold on the lace took the dress to a sophisticated level.

The wedding date had been altered slightly, invitations had been ordered shortly after their engagement. The Botanical Gardens were in full bloom of golds, red, peaches and oranges, providing a stunning background for the wedding. A flurry had been caused in Adam's business circle when it was announcement Laura would be marrying Adrian Wingfield instead. Adam squelched the rumors quickly. He would have nothing ruin his brother's wedding day.

Trixie was at their side with Luke. Luke looked uncomfortable in his tux but Trixie didn't seem to mind her dress. It was similar to Laura's dress and she had agreed to wear it because "Peach is kinda pink." In her hair were rosebuds from the same bush.

"Should we tell them now?" Adrian whispered. Laura nodded. As the applause died Adrian cleared his throat.

"Everybody, we have an announcement to make."

"I think we're aware you're married now," Adam said lightly, drawing laughter from the crowd, mostly business associates of the brothers. Sophie was there, grateful to have her youngest daughter and granddaughter back.

"Obviously this is the greatest day of my life. But other than marrying this stunning woman, there something else to make it even better. And Trixie, you might want to listen."

"Pay attention," Dessa whispered. Trixie stopped poking Luke in the side.

"This morning I received official word that our adoption petition has gone through. From today on, Trixie is our daughter,"

Their friends applauded as Trixie's eyes grew big.

"Does that mean you're my new daddy?" she asked. Adrian nodded, trying to hold back his tears. "And Laura is my mommy?"

Laura smiled at her as the child seemed to think it over. Later tonight, once alone, she would reveal her wedding gift to Adrian. She had hinted it was something he had been wanting, but he had no idea, in about six months they would have their own child together and Trixie would be a big sister. The night their love exploded, neither had thought about protection. Laura wanted this baby more than anything.

"Is that ok with you?" Adrian asked. Trixie grinned and ran to him, flinging her small arms around him.

"I got my birthday wish," Trixie whispered to him, wrapping her arms around him tightly.

The End
